Deus Ex: The Conspiracy

The year is 2052 and the world is a dangerous and chaotic place. Terrorists operate openly, killing thousands, while drugs, disease, and pollution kill even more. The world’s economics are close to collapse, and the gap between the insanely wealthy and the desperately poor has grown to the size of the Grand Canyon. Worst of all, believers of an age-old conspiracy bent on world domination has decided that the time is right to emerge from the shadows and take control. No one believes the conspiracy exists–no one but you. The adaptation of this role-playing adventure for the PlayStation2 retains all of the levels and missions of the PC original.

You are J.C. Denton, a powerful, nanotechnologically augmented antiterrorist agent. It’s up to you to stop the conspirators from achieving their goals. But this world is full of lies and betrayal, a world where nothing is as it seems and entire nations can seemingly be turned against you at the push of a button. To succeed, you must travel the globe in a quest for knowledge, develop your character’s nanotech augmentations and strengths as you see fit, build a network of allies to assist you, and determine when stealth and strategy are more important than action. And each time you think you’ve got the mystery solved and the game figured out, there’s another, deeper mystery to unravel. You will never know whom to trust, who your friends are, who’s in the conspiracy, and who’s innocent. Maybe no one is.

Video

In my Deus Ex walkthrough, I attempt to finish the game without making any unnecessary kills or exploiting any serious bugs. I will try to make full use of YouTube’s video annotations. This part takes us up to the north dock. — FAQ — Q: Why does the video occasionally skip and then the music and health UI reset? A: I am segmenting the video in unimportant places to reduce the number of mistakes you’ll see in the video without consuming too much time on retakes or detracting from the video. Q: Did you know that the code/login for X is [answer]? A: Of course. If it can be found in the game without cheating/hacking, please let me know. Q: Why are some of the textures flickering in the distance? A: Not sure. It’s just a minor graphical anomaly. Q: What is that colour scheme? A: Starlight. Q: How are you capturing and encoding the video? A: I capture with Fraps and then encode with AviSynth & MeGUI. The basic specs are x264 2-pass 2048kbps (turbo), Nero AAC 128kbps ABR. Please don’t ask me to teach you how to use them. Q: Do you want to play me on X, join a clan or add me on Y? A: No. Q: When did you install and upgrade your augmentations? A: (Possible spoilers; read an augmentation guide for specific locations) Combat Tech 1 – UNATCO Combat T2 – Hell’s Kitchen Run Silent T1 – UNATCO 2 Aqualung T1 – ibid Combat T3 – Lebedev’s Airfield Run Silent T2 – Hell’s Kitchen 2 Spy Drone T1 – UNATCO/MJ12 Regen T1 – ibid Spy Drone T2 – ibid Vision T1 – VersaLife lab Cloak T1 – ibid
